CWG 2010

Being a person of Indian origin, my excitement knew no bounds when the Queen's baton was handed over to CW Committee officials in 2006 in Melbourne for the next CWG for 2010. However, today when the games are less than one month from opening, there is fear and apprehension among various Indians about the success of the games. The games have already been marred by corruption, delays in planning and various setbacks in form of elite athletes withdrawing from the games due to injury or other security concerns.

Another major concern is non-completion of venues when they should have been ideally be ready for trial runs and holding national competitions to give local athletes a competitive edge. This only remains a dream as lot of venues are far from ready and the practice sessions are being held far from Delhi..some as far as Hyderabad. To put things in perspective during Athens 2004, the venues were getting finished a day before the games started..and they were Olympic games.

Hence still there is great hope that CWG 2010 will be a grand celebration of sport and truly enjoyed by all!!!

Bill Gates- The Greatest philanthrophist

Hello,

I am sure people reading or writing blogs are aware about one of the greatest philanthropist of our times. I am of course talking about the genius and founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates. Recently Bill has retired from his multi million dollar empire and has become a full time philanthropist.

For those who are interested in knowing what Bill is involved in these days, there is a very interesting site to look at http://www.thegatesnotes.com/Default.aspx

This is the official site of Bill Gates that keeps you updated on several interesting topics. One noteworthy video to look at the charity work done during Bill and Melissa's recent trip to India.

I personally found it quite inspiring about the work being done there.

Cheers,

Nihar
